Andrea Ferrerio

Andrea Ferrerio completed his secondary education at an Italian Liceo before continuing his academic path at Politecnico di Milano, one of Europe’s leading technical universities.

At Politecnico di Milano, he earned a university degree followed by a Master’s qualification, developing a multidisciplinary education centred on design, product engineering, technological development and structured problem solving. He completed his studies with a final mark of 108/110.

As part of a collaboration between Politecnico di Milano and a prestigious multinational company, students from his course developed projects connected to the company and received direct reviews from its R&D Director. Ferrerio’s final thesis received the highest possible evaluation.

Following a highly demanding selection process, he was subsequently the only student from his course selected to join the multinational company professionally. The selection was made directly by the R&D Director who had reviewed the students’ projects.

Ferrerio later broadened his international education through studies in Oxford and has obtained five additional professional certifications. His education also extends to economics and investment: he completed a university-level course focused on financial markets, trading and capital management, achieving a final grade of 28/30.

Ferrerio’s core professional background is in Design Engineering, with more than a decade of experience related to product development, research and innovation. His experience includes work for Politecnico di Milano as well as within prestigious multinational companies, exposing him to both academic and international corporate environments.

He joined a multinational engineering organisation to work on the development and engineering of products for the North American market, becoming part of a professional team and collaborating with engineers, technical specialists and different corporate departments on complex projects.

Developing a sophisticated product requires considerably more than creating an initial concept. Functionality, performance, materials, manufacturing processes, technical constraints, reliability, costs, user requirements and commercial objectives must coexist within a coherent and feasible solution.

This work has given Ferrerio a practical understanding of how an idea can evolve into an engineered, manufacturable and commercially viable product. It has also strengthened his experience in problem solving, teamwork, cross-functional collaboration and the management of complexity.

Building upon his engineering background, Ferrerio founded AF6 Company, an independent initiative dedicated to research, technological development and product innovation.

His work has included the conception and development of new technological solutions, with particular experience involving electromagnetic technologies and their potential industrial applications. The development of these concepts has involved collaboration with specialised engineering professionals and the use of advanced engineering simulation to investigate technical feasibility and performance.

For Ferrerio, innovation does not end with the creation of an original idea. A meaningful innovation must also be technically credible, capable of being engineered and industrialised, relevant to a real application and potentially capable of generating economic value.

Alongside his engineering and entrepreneurial activities, Ferrerio collaborates with his family’s business and investment activities, broadening his experience into real estate, investment and private capital management.

The family’s activities include the ownership and management of prestigious real estate assets in Milan, together with the allocation and management of private capital across financial markets.

Through this environment, he has developed practical familiarity with investment decision making, capital allocation, financial markets, risk assessment, real assets and long-term wealth management.

His experience across engineering, entrepreneurship, real estate and finance has allowed him to observe the creation and preservation of economic value from different perspectives: from developing a product and understanding a business to evaluating investments, allocating capital and considering the long-term management of real and financial assets.

Ferrerio’s education and professional experiences have contributed to a strongly international outlook. Italian is his native language; he also has a strong command of English and Spanish, alongside a basic knowledge of French.

His studies in Oxford, experience in multinational environments and involvement in European affairs have strengthened his interest in cooperation between different cultures, disciplines and countries.

He has served as Vice President of the Italian section of Ave Europa, a European political movement advocating greater European cooperation and integration.

His civic interests focus on the relationship between individual freedom, democracy, economic prosperity, effective institutions and the quality of life of citizens. He is interested in how institutions can protect individual liberty while creating an environment in which people, businesses and communities are able to develop, innovate and prosper.

Ferrerio is also involved in sport as Vice President of a non-professional Serie A seven-a-side football club. The club has recently won its league championship, an important collective achievement for its players, coaching staff and management.

His involvement in competitive sport has given him another perspective on leadership, organisation, teamwork and the pursuit of shared objectives.

For Ferrerio, sport provides a practical demonstration of principles that extend beyond competition itself. Individual talent is important, but lasting results depend upon discipline, preparation, resilience, cooperation, leadership and the ability of individuals to work together toward a common objective.

At first sight, engineering, entrepreneurship, financial markets, politics and philosophy may appear to belong to very different worlds. Ferrerio sees an important connection between them.

Engineering trained him to approach complex problems by identifying their fundamental elements, understanding how those elements interact, recognising constraints and searching for solutions capable of improving the overall system.

Over time, he began applying a similar way of thinking to something considerably more complex than any engineered product: human life and society.

What makes a person genuinely happy? What distinguishes temporary pleasure from lasting happiness? What principles should guide our relationships with other people? What role should ambition, work, success and material possessions play in a meaningful life? How can freedom coexist with responsibility? And what kind of institutions can create the conditions for people to live freely, prosper and pursue meaningful lives?

The title Societas Felicitatis can be translated from Latin as “Society of Happiness.” The book brings together Ferrerio’s reflections on happiness, ethics, human relationships, responsibility, ambition, work, economics, politics and institutions.

An important source of inspiration for his thought is found in the teachings of Jesus Christ. Ferrerio does not present Societas Felicitatis as a work of theology, nor does he claim religious authority. Instead, the book offers his personal interpretation of how enduring moral teachings and ethical principles can be understood and applied to the realities of contemporary life.

It examines themes including love, respect, forgiveness, responsibility, freedom, material attachment, ambition, human relationships and the pursuit of meaningful objectives. The perspective then progressively expands from the individual to society.

At the heart of Societas Felicitatis lies a fundamental question: what principles can help individuals and societies create the conditions for a happier, freer, more prosperous and more meaningful life?

The book begins with the individual because society itself is ultimately composed of individuals. It progressively expands from personal conduct to relationships, education, work, economics, political institutions and the organisation of society as a whole.

Its central conviction is that personal responsibility and institutional responsibility can reinforce one another: a healthy society benefits from individuals capable of responsibility, respect, compassion, ambition and constructive action, while individuals benefit from institutions capable of protecting freedom, human dignity, equality before the law and the opportunity to develop their potential.
